When I think of Nintendo, the first thing I think of is my childhood. Who doesn’t remember playing games such as Pokemon on their Gameboys, right? Still today, Nintendo manages to make people smile. A difference between Nintendo and other leading entertainment systems is the large drive for family fun. Over the years, Nintendo has got even better at doing this, decades have gone by and now we have the Nintendo Switch! This new device strongly backs up the image that Nintendo has created for themselves, family friendly and interactive.
The statistics from it's first few weeks showed the buzz that spread the globe with the new system. Nintendo reported that they sold 80,000 units in their first weekend in the UK! There are currently not as many games as there are for other systems, however more are surely to be launched as the months go by. A few examples of the games you can buy are: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, The legend of Zelda – Breath of the wild, Lego City – Undercover, Just Dance 2017 and Snipperclips.
An exciting feature for this console is the flexibility you have, you can either plug it in to your TV or have it as a mobile gaming system. Click the link below to be taken to a compilation of videos of people playing the Nintendo Switch.
One of the insane trends that happened was with the Nintendo Switch wasn’t actually the console itself or even the gameplay but the actual game cartridges! Like many before it, this became an internet fad and videos of people licking the cartridges started popping up all over the internet. It is actually quite funny to watch! Linking back to my early statement of Nintendo being aimed at families, they actually thought of the little ones and wanted to try and stop the games being a choking hazard. They did this by covering the games in denatonium benzoate which makes them taste extremely sour and leaves an after taste in the kid’s mouth.
