Things no-one tells you about leaving University.

1. You probably won't fall into your first job right away. This is the case for most people so don't worry! Your first job out of University will probably be that part time one you had whilst at University moved into full time until you find a job in your industry and even then you're probably looking at an internship, work experience or freelance work to start.

2. The first job you land may not be the job you wanted. The first job you get will probably be the last thing you ever want to do but its a step in the door into your industry and from here the opportunities will come for bigger and better things!

3. Money will become an even bigger deal. No-one ever told me this... No student finance giving you a lump some every four months. You now have to think bills, tax, jobs, food and everything else as well as leaving a bit spare for fun. It's basically all you'll think about and your most said thought will be, 'can I afford this?'

4.You might possibly almost definitely have to move back home. Unless you fall into a full time job with a decent wage straight away, you'll probably have to move back in to your parents home for the foreseeable future. Especially when you've lived away from your parents for the past three or four years its becomes really odd to be back home where you started with no freedom.

5. Your friendships are tested because you all now no longer live round the corner from each other. Communication between friends from University will slowly deteriorate and this is when you'll find out who your friends are. Remember that friend you used to see every week at University for that house party? More than likely you'll probably only hear from them a few times and then you'll never speak again.

6. You can't drink all day every day anymore. Apparently drinking alcohol from 10am on a morning is unacceptable?! You'll probably switch out your beer for a strong mug of coffee to get you through the long day at work.

7. Bank of mum and dad is officially closed. Don't get me wrong, they'll probably help you get on your feet after University but after you can't just be asking for random £20 for a trip you want to take or because you're short of cash, the bank is closed and it's time to become an adult and manage your money.

8. People will 100% ask you what you plan on doing with your life and you probably still wont have a clue. Every member of your family and all your friends will guaranteed ask you what you're going to do with your degree and you probably still won't have the clue what you want to do and that's totally okay. Don't panic, you will figure it out!

9. You can't skip work because you 'don't feel like it' Remember when you used to say to yourself, 'I'll skip this lecture cause its pointless.' or 'I think I'll skip today because I can't really be bothered.' and you completely convince yourself that its okay? Well unfortunately you can't do that with work, you have to go regardless whether you can be bothered or not.
