The foundation, the base of our everyday make up which covers up blemishes, dark circles and basically anything we need or want to cover! For me, wearing the best foundation that suits my skin and deals with my skin issues can be the difference between me feeling like Marilyn Monroe or Voldemort!
I look for full coverage in my foundations, with a semi matte to matte finish and a foundation which does not create breakouts also nothing that breaks that bank and leaves me with the guilty shopper syndrome! I have combination skin, to prep my skin I use The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil Mattifying Lotion as a base – not a conventional base but works for me! For me, my targeted areas are my blemishes I need to cover and a few acne scars around my chin area I also have sensitive skin too!
There are so many different types of foundation to choose from, how do you know which will work for you and your skin without wasting your hard earned cash? Lucky for you! I have chosen my top 3 foundations which work best for me for different reasons!
1. Max Factor Face Finity All Day Flawless 3 in 1 Foundation
This is a great foundation if you are on a budget! With full coverage, this Max Factor foundation easily covers your blemishes without looking too heavy and cakey. This foundation is also great as it is a primer, concealer and foundation all in one and only for £12! Face Finity also have SPF 20, which will protect your skin while you’re looking glam! I use the colour Warm Almond 20, I use this colour all year round and just add a bit of bronze to match my neck & shoulders. The product blends very well and matches perfectly with the Max Factor Crème Puff Blush. Face Finity lasts all day, I personally use setting powder and I have remained fully covered and semi matte all day long. Overall, this is definitely one of my all-time favorites, just because I can rely on the product for a good long lasting coverage and it does not break the bank!
PRO: The bargain price along with the great quality product!
CON: I have no cons!
RATING: 5 out of 5 stars
2. Clinique Beyond Perfecting 2 in 1 foundation and concealer
Retailing at £27 this is a medium priced foundation, I had used a number of Clinique products and also thought they were very good quality and agreed with my skin so I decided to try this foundation after hearing a number of good reviews and comments. I really like the packaging of this foundation with the makeup swipe stick so you can directly apply the foundation on to your targeted areas for maximum coverage. The foundation blends very well and gives a radiant glow finish. Beyond Perfecting foundation lasts a while, also, a little really goes a long way with this foundation allowing you to feel less guilty about the price tag! I do need to touch up throughout the day with this foundation if it is warm but I really like the glow finish it makes your skin really glowy!
PRO: The glowy natural finish
CON: Can be too oily after a few hours of wearing
RATING: 4 out of 5 stars
2. Estee Launder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Makeup
This foundation is my “special event” foundation, for me this foundation is so ridiculously good for events, weddings and your average night out. It lasts ALL night and I mean ALL night without creasing or fading. The Double Wear is a little more expensive than the other two foundations, retailing at £32.50, I would say it's 100% worth the little indulge. I know a few people who this foundation to cover skin conditions like Rosacea, which this foundation covers phenomenally! It is a thick foundation which provides full coverage without looking cakey. For me, this is not an everyday foundation as it too full on glam for my everyday look. But for anyone who feels they need or want that flawless 100% coverage this is the product for you!
PRO: Stays in place and even stays of after a sweaty dance!
CON: Dries my skin out after continual use
RATING: 3.5 out of 5 stars
